About Us
A bit of history
Hotel Sierra Nevada has over 25 years of activity in the hospitality sector of El Calafate. It was inaugurated in October 1999 with 14 rooms, and over the years, with two expansions, it has grown to the current 40 rooms.
It was born from the vision and desire of two pioneering families with over 120 years living in Patagonian lands. A small part of this vast history is reflected in the various walls, showcases, and furniture throughout our hotel.
Among this display, the gure of one family member stands out: Commander Armando Tola, a key gure in regional and national aviation. He worked for airlines such as Aeroposta, Aerolíneas Argentinas, and KLM, among others, accumulating over 35,000 flight hours.
As a tribute to his remarkable career and the fact that he was born in the province of Santa Cruz, El Calafate’s international airport bears his name.
