Hotel Sierra Nevada – El Calafate

Sustainability

The "Hoteles Más Verdes" Certification Program arises as a necessary consequence in the process of managing sustainable hotels.

This is a voluntary, multi-criteria, third-party certification program that awards labels to environmentally preferable products and services compared to similar ones within the same category, based on life cycle considerations. Given the absence in Argentina of a national voluntary standard or ecolabel, in contrast to the growing number of sustainable tourism certification programs worldwide, the Argentine Hotel Association (AHT) set out to establish a national ecolabeling system based on a standard that sets management criteria at different levels, as a model for recognizing and certifying sustainable hotels.

This Standard has been designed according to the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria established by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) for hotels and tour operators, with the aim of achieving international recognition and accreditation.
